Information Systems Program

 

The discipline of Information Systems is the systematic study of algorithmic processes that describe and transform information: their theory, analysis, design, efficiency, implementation, and application.

The purpose of Information Systems on the other hand, is to collect process and store data, and distribute information for a defined purpose or application using information technology.

 

The Main Objectives of Information Systems

  1. Effective use of information technology, computers and communication networks to support management decision -making and corporate strategy.

  2. Providing all necessary operational level support for an organization.

Program Structure 

This IS program is typical four year program for Bachelor of Science degree in information systems at Buraimi College. The program is designed to prepare students to assume positions in the government and private sectors, computer industry or education. It also offers them opportunities for further higher degree studies.

Also students can choose Diploma programs. A Postsecondary School Diploma is designed to give students practical "hands-on" experience as well as theoretical knowledge in their chosen field. A diploma will take at least four semesters (two years) to complete and will usually include a work placement.
