Doctor of Philosophy in Public and Private Law Program

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

A program designed and prepared according to the Academic Engagement Agreement

  1. The PhD program in public or private law is an extension of the series of graduate programs offered by Buraimi University College represented by the Law Program in academic association with Ain Shams University in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
  2. The program is offered full-time.
  3. The program aims to achieve three dimensions: a cognitive dimension, a specialized dimension, and a purposeful research dimension in the field of legal studies.
  4. After successfully passing the graduation requirements, the researcher is granted the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in public or private law after at least (6) semesters from the start of the study.
  5. The researcher studies during the period of his study (90) credit hours, of which (27) credit hours are allocated to study courses during the first three semesters, and (63) credit hours are allocated for the doctoral thesis.
  6. The doctoral program is based on two specializations (two tracks):
    1. PhD in Private Law
    2. Phd in Public Law

أهداف البرنامج: The Doctor of Philosophy in Law: Public Law or Private Law program aims to provide students with the following advanced knowledge and skills:

  1. Qualifying students to be distinguished researchers in the various branches of law in a way that enriches legal knowledge.
  2. Developing students’ abilities and skills to carry out intellectual initiatives in the field of law.
  3. Instilling the spirit of creativity and continuous cognitive development in the student in the field of law.
  4. Providing an opportunity for students to deepen and enhance their knowledge in the field of law.
  5. Consolidating the student’s specialized legal scientific base in the field of law.
  6. Qualifying students to make thoughtful judgments on various legal issues.
  7. Taking personal responsibility for the pursuit of legal knowledge among the various legal professions.
  8. Preparing students to work in a team spirit and respect the other opinions.
LEARNING OUTCOMES

Program Learning Outcomes: In the Doctor of Philosophy in Law, the learner is able to:

  1. Demonstrates a deep and comprehensive understanding of the main relevant trends in the field of legal science research both in the present and from a historical perspective
  2. Acquires comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the interdisciplinary nature of law and the contributions that other disciplines can make to the study of law.
  3. Applies research techniques relevant to legal sciences to the developments of digital transformation in the field of professional and academic legal practice.
  4. Uses research techniques to do original research and how to publish research findings, conclusions and suggestions in refereed journals and conferences.
  5. Communicates with relevant community institutions to explain the importance of his research and the originality of his solutions.
  6. Proposes new legal solutions to the difficulties that arise in society, leading to important developments in the field of law.
  7. Plans and implements innovative research independently and acts responsibly and fully accountable towards his/her research and professional tasks.
  8. Demonstrates a deep and comprehensive understanding of the ethical rules governing legal practice and/or academic research.
